



Textiles Technologist
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Manages the Technical aspects of Raw Materials along with the workflow process as appropriate for the respective Departments assigned. Drives efforts to meet on time delivery with first quality goods by having direct involvement with Mills, Weavers, Spinners, Dyers, Finishers, Fabric Suppliers, Vendors and W cross functional team to maintain and monitor vendor and/or supplier adherence to W standards, processes and procedures that will elevate the quality of the merchandise and brand through consistency of yarns and fabrics across all classifications.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Support the assessment of suppliers capabilities and capacities bringing new resources to the table as opportunities present themselves.
-Ensure vendor and/or supplier is clear on all companies standards, processes and procedures.
-Review specific component details to ensure reasonable standards have been set, making recommendations for edits as needed to all partners.
-Conduct on the fly mill, dyers, and finisher audits as needed.
-Establish, develop & cultivate relationships with vendors, suppliers as well as cross-functional team.
-Communicate daily with vendors, suppliers and cross-functional team on all efforts being mindful of the T&A calendars.
-Review and evaluation of all lab testing for textiles, partnering with Manager, and cross-functional team as well as vendors and suppliers on resolution of failures.
-Participate in efforts regarding the use of new technology to help evolve, evaluate textile development efforts.
-Travel may be extensive, 50-75% of time will be spent traveling, often on short notice and for extended stays (e.g. up to 4 weeks)

QUALIFICATIONS:
-4-Year College Degree Preferred.
-Minimum 15 years experience in the sewn goods industry with expertise in technical textile development.
-Complete understanding of performance requirements and laboratory testing across a broad range fabrics and yarns as applies to Wovens including Denim, Knits and Sweaters.
-In depth understanding of International Trade Law and US Apparel and Customs regulations including but not limited to those under the guidance of the FTC and CPSC.
-Extensive experience and solid relationships with Mills, Weavers, Spinners, Knitters, Finishers and Dye Houses.
-Excellent understanding of garment construction and how it relates to various textiles.
-Excellent understanding of Product Development as well as Time and Actions Calendars.
-Detail oriented with strong communication, organizational and problem solving skills.
-Excellent Management and Leadership skills.
-Strong sense of urgency.
-Computer literate with a focus on Web PDM. Excel and Word.
-Self motivated.
